Each workshop is hosted by a local recovery organization and graduates are encouraged to participate in grass roots advocacy. The training includes volunteer recruitment, activity organizing, message building, fundraising, and leadership skills.

SPORTS-LINK
The Center coordinates National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month celebrations at Major League Baseball venues. The goal is to create enthusiastic and highly visible celebrations of recovery in September.

AMERICA HONORS RECOVERY LUNCHEON
Johnson Institute conducts a nomination process throughout America to identify individuals who have made major contributions to the recovery of others as a result of their own recovery experience. Each year, several outstanding individuals who have exemplified “giving back” are selected for special honors at a September luncheon in the Ballroom of the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Emphasis is placed on contributions that change systems making opportunities for prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery for future generations.
